From the beginning of his career, Pat realized that he would have
to either be better than everyone else or learn how to solve
problems differently. As the youngest college baseball coach in the
league, he knew he wasn’t going to be the best coach, so he would
have to take a new approach to solve problems. Pat discovered that
he was a natural at solving problems creatively. He took the
obstacles that he faced and turned them into opportunities. How can
you turn your disadvantages into advantages? Find out by listening
to this episode of The Transformation Show.
After Pat’s coaching career ended unexpectedly he got a job in the
fitness industry. Once again he was faced with problems and learned
how to solve them creatively. Since Pat had never had any
experience in sales he was faced with a disadvantage. But he turned
his disadvantage into an advantage by doing things differently than
everyone else. Selling and marketing turned into his strengths
along with developing teams. As Pat’s success grew he was offered
many different kinds of opportunities. He turned success into more
success. Have you found that your success begets more success?
Oftentimes when we are undergoing a transformation we feel that
true happiness is just around the corner. We feel that when we
reach our goal we will be truly happy. Pat has discovered that with
all his success, that the goals we reach are just small milestones.
Goals are a great way to get started on transformation, but the
true joy is in the journey. If the journey is not making you happy,
then perhaps you are on the wrong journey. Make the journey one
that you enjoy, because although reaching the goal is fun, it is
short-lived. Is there joy in your transformation journey?
Even though Pat was working for himself he realized that he wasn’t
happy. He was working all the time and didn’t have a chance to
enjoy his family. He realized that he needed to choose his own
happiness over his business. He knew he had to do things
differently. Pat believed in himself and was able to draw
confidence from his prior successes, but he was unsure of the next
step. How could he create a business that he could enjoy? Pat
didn’t want to teach his children that professional happiness and
personal happiness were mutually exclusive. Listen to this episode
to hear about Pat Rigsby’s transformation and how he continually
turned obstacles into opportunities.
